Over the past 35+ years developing new technologies, incubating our own product ideas and acquiring over 290 patent families, we have bolstered our experience with patent exploration and patent strategy. We’ve helped numerous clients over the year who have come to us with creative ideas and required support with researching existing patents and applying for patents for their new technical solution or design. The project with Tamia is a great example of how our expertise can complement a forward-thinking product development team.
This is the structured approach we followed for this project:
Patent landscape exploration
The initial phase focused on conducting an in-depth analysis of the existing patent landscape surrounding Tamia's innovative product. This exploration led to the development of concepts based on three distinct strategies: bypassing existing patents, generating entirely new patents, and creating "green" patents that aligned with sustainability objectives. By examining these approaches, the team established a strong foundation for the project's next steps.
Concept generation and evaluation
As part of this phase, numerous ideas were generated and categorized as either patentable or non-patentable. The feasibility and effort required for implementation were carefully assessed. Drawing on collective expertise, the team developed diverse potential solutions, ensuring that intellectual property considerations were integrated into the evaluation process. The ultimate goal was to identify concepts that provided effective menstrual cramp relief while maintaining a viable patent strategy.

Workshop for collaborative analysis
The second phase of the project took place in a workshop setting, allowing for a collaborative analysis of key aspects critical to the device's success. Discussions covered essential considerations such as the reusability of parts, environmental impact, and the fine-tuning of vibration parameters for optimal effectiveness. This teamwork-driven approach ensured that sustainability and technical efficacy were addressed in unison.

Refinement of standout concepts
From these discussions, three standout concepts emerged and underwent a meticulous refinement process. This phase involved evaluating their feasibility and preparing the groundwork for a comprehensive patent application. Beyond technical functionality, the refinement process also incorporated sustainability factors, including reusability and environmental impact.

Holistic and forward-thinking development
The Relief for Menstrual Cramp Device exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to innovation. From patent landscape analysis to collaborative workshop discussions and the refinement of promising concepts, the project followed a strategic process. Its development not only addresses the immediate need for menstrual cramp relief but also aligns with broader goals of sustainability and responsible product innovation.
